No, it isn’t red, or that big. But it is a blog. And my name is Clifford, so there you have it.
I’ve been writing about jazz and improvised music for several years, for such publications as Paris Transatlantic Magazine, All About Jazz New York, Bagatellen., One Final Note, Minneapolis’s City Pages, and liner notes to recordings on ESP-Disk’, Clean Feed, Speetones Music and 612 Sides.
Yet, there are always things that don’t fit in with even the broad range of work discussed within those parameters. I like music other than jazz – say, contemporary underground rock, less-contemporary No Wave, Americana, and generally unclassifiable things that All About Jazz and Paris Transatlantic, rightly, wouldn’t touch. Those types of music will be discussed in reviews and interviews here. I may even reprint a few things previously hidden elsewhere.
Finally, non-musical matters, such as books, films, and visual arts may also occasionally make their way in here. So keep an eye out for semi-regular updates.
